The first stop on the 2023 Stadium tour took Romero and I to one of the two self proclaimed “Queen Cities” (Ironically we’ll visit the other later in the trip). Charlotte, NC home of Romero’s favorite team Charlotte FC!
We drove a total of about 14-15 hours across two days and arrived in Charlotte just in time to see Romero’s boys take on the team I’m most fond of in MLS FC Cincinnati. Coincidentally Cincy is the other city to lay claim to the name of “Queen City” and thus this match could be called the Queen City Derby. It’s was also Marvel Heroes Night at Bank of America Stadium just a couple days after the 4th of July and we were treated to some fantastic fireworks after the match!
Follow our entire journey from Central Massachusetts to Southern North Carolina and even for a little side trip into South Carolina in the 3 episodes above!! We even took our first MLSNext Pro match and watched Charlotte FC’s future stars play against their counterparts from Atlanta and Romero got to meet a number of the players!
